Dr. Bletzinger's experience as a Chiropractic Sports Physician is coupled with a genuine concern for his patients and the wellness of pediatric athletes.
Dr. Joshua Bletzinger received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Northern Illinois University. He received his Athletic Trainers' certification (NATABOC) shortly after graduation from Northern Illinois University and Strength & Conditioning Specialist certification (NSCA) thereafter. Along with Dr. Bletzinger's services at Performance Chiropractic, he serves as Team Physician and Athletic Trainer for Rosary High School Athletics and is the co-developer of AthletesEDGE Athlete Development Programs.
Dr. Bletzinger's experience with athletic injuries and post-graduate specialty training is the very foundation of Performance Chiropractic & Sports Medicine and co-development of AthletesEDGE Athlete Development Programs. While playing youth and college hockey, Dr. Bletzinger suffered injuries to his hip and knee (ACL). Because of the debilitating nature of these injuries, his mission was to find a method for helping those that want the best possible recovery from traumatic sports injuries and physical ailments. He believes his success and effectiveness with his patients and athletes is a direct result of understanding exactly what the injury feels like and what needs to be done to restore proper function.
Dr. Bletzinger’s passion lies in the proper development of youth athletes. For the past decade he has helped pioneer and develop a system of sports medicine that identifies, corrects, and prevents physical imbalances in the youth athlete thus leading to statistically high injury reduction. In 2010 Dr. Bletzinger taught a course of Sports Medicine Rehabilitation at Northern Illinois University and in April 2011, Dr. Bletzinger presented this information at the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physican’s Sports Sciences Symposium in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Bletzinger uses his case studies to contribute to the development of sports physicians and contemporary treatment and rehabilitation concepts in the field.
Dr. Bletzinger specializes in evaluation, treatment and the biomechanical correction of youth athletic injuries. His areas of focus are spinal/back & neck , rotator cuff injuries/shoulder rehabilitation, hip and pelvic disorders, knee injuries including Osgood Schlatter and ACL rehabilitation, shin splints and sprain/strain injuries.
Dr. Bletzinger is a graduate of Culver Military Academy where he lettered in hockey and golf. He played 4 years of hockey with NIU’s hockey team and played, coached and captained Palmer College’s hockey team.
